Technology has transformed work in the 21st century.  The internet and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) are fundamental to work for a majority of workers. And the diversity of the American worker is greater than even in terms of gender, age, culture and ability. We are already beginning to see workplaces that range from 20 to 80, a trend certain to continue with aging baby boomers unable or uninterested in retiring.  There are big challenges to address but it seems inevitable that the potential for mass customization of products and technology that allow each worker to shape their own work environment will be key to the satisfaction and resulting productivity at work. Among the challenges facing us now will be to develop strategies that reverse that slight downward trend in employment of people with disabilities since the passage of the ADA in 1990.
